Our Christmas cookie exchange was a big hit...we will do it again next Christmas!
Dancing, singing, Christmas stories and presents...as always we had great fun.

It rained on our Easter egg hunt and picnic, but we still went hunting and had a lot of fun!
Next year's event will be April 8th 2007, same place, same time!!

In our usual way, we had some BIG celebrations for Christmas and the holidays. Thankyou for being part of Blue Sky over 2005 and looking forward to more fun in 2006!

とても暖かい快晴の中、馬事公苑にて欧米では恒例のイースターエッグ探し大会（イースター　エッグ　ハント　ピクニック）を催しました。285人もの人々が集まっていただき、皆さんととても楽しい1日を過ごすことができました。

そして、私たちのもうひとつの目標である東南アジアでの地震津波被害者の方々に対して152,000円をUNICEF基金を通じで寄付することができました。本当に大成功です。ご協力いただきました皆さんに大変感謝しています。

この楽しいイベントにご協力いただいた方々をご紹介します。キッズ パラダイスのマイケル先生（Michael）は、子どもたちに本格的なマジックショーを見せてくださいました。たのしいピエロ（Happy Clowns）のアンジェラさんとローラさんは（Angela and Laura）子どもたちに大きな風船アートを披露してくださいました。プロの声優、Jeff Manningさん(保険会社AFLACのアヒルの声でお馴染み)は私たちの総合司会を担当してくださり、また、楽しくギターで歌も歌ってくれました。


アリソンさん（Allison）は、ご主人テッペイさんがご自分の赤ちゃんKye君を抱っこしている間に子どもたちの顔にいろいろな色でフェスペイントイングして子どもたち皆は大喜び。

私とユリの旦那様ヨシキさんとタダスさんは私たちのとても大きな企画にハラハラしながら、一緒にいろいろ気遣いしてくれました。

とてもおいしい、十字の入ったパン「ホット クロス バンズ」（Hot Cross Buns）を私たちのため特注文に焼いてくださった、桜新町駅にある有名なパン屋さんベッケライブロートハイム「Backerei Brotheim」のアカシさんと奥さんのタマミさんは売上の半分をUNICEFに寄付してくださいました。帰国子女アカデミーと世田谷のキッズ パラダイスの方々のお手伝いには大変感謝しています。

私たちがこのイベントを企画したもうひとつの大きな目的は、先日、東南アジアを襲った津波被害者の「母乳で赤ちゃんを育てているお母さんたち」に対して、UNICEFを通じて寄付をすることです。

「津波のような非常事態が起こったときにこそ、母乳育児を保護・推進し、サポートを提供することに貢献したい！」

皆がこの意欲を持ってくれたおかげで、地域的なイベントを行なうことができました。寄付金の送り先はUNICEFです。UNICEFは非常事態、特に乳幼児用人工乳を大量に寄贈する形で援助の手が差し伸べられてしまうとき、母乳育児を保護することに最も力を注いでいる機関の１つと言えるでしょう。人工乳を寄贈すると母乳育児を妨げ、結果的に赤ちゃんの生命と健康を脅かすことになりかねません。 詳しい情報が書かれた書類をご覧になりたい方は http://www.unicef.org/nutrition/files/Emergency_WHO_U_RC_IFRC_rev.DOC をクリックしてください。

津波から９０日が経った被災地域の近況について、先日UNICEFから報告書が発表されました。 詳しくは www.unicef.or.jpのhttp://www.unicef.or.jp/kinkyu/sumatra/2005_0420.htm をご覧下さい。この報告書には、「健康管理を安全に行なうことに関する冊子を配布する必要性」、また、「非常事態における母乳育児の重要性」について説明が書かれています。津波によって大きな被害を受けてしまった状況で、 母乳育児は唯一の安全な授乳方法であるとも言えるでしょう。

What a wonderful spring day we had at Baji Koen yesterday for our Easter egg hunt and picnic. The sun shone, we had 285 people come along and we raised over 150,000 yen for UNICEF for victims of the tsunami in Asia. A great success!!

We gratefully acknowlege the volunteers who donated their time and talents for the day: Michael sensei from Kids Paradise, whose magic and theatrics were fabulous; Angela and Laura from Happy Clowns, http://tanoshii-piero.com who made great balloon art for the kids; Jeff (the AFLAC duck voice) who was our MC and played guitar for our songs; Allison who untiringly painted the kids' faces while her husband Teppei held their sleeping baby Kye; and our husbands, Yoshiki and Tadasu who did not actually volunteer but dealt with the anxieties and complexities of running the big event with such determined wives!

We also appreciated the delicious hot cross buns specially baked for us by AKC of Backerei Brotheim in Tsurumaki, and the kind liaison of his wife, Tamami. 50% of the sale proceeds from the buns went to UNICEF.

Thankyou to everyone who attended for your kind donations, and special mention goes to Kikokushijo Academy http://www.kikokushijoacademy.com and Kids Paradise in Setagaya-ku for their generous support.

Our commitment to the protection, promotion and support of breastfeeding, in particular in emergencies like the tsunami, was the driving force behind our organisation of this community event. We chose UNICEF as the beneficiary of our donations because UNICEF is one of the organisations working hardest to protect breastfeeding in emergencies, especially when aid donations often come in the form of large donations of tins of infant formula, a practice which seriously undermines breastfeeding and puts babies' lives and health at risk.

UNICEF has recently published a report about the progress of rebuilding communities affected by the tsunami after 90 days at http://www.unicef.org This report mentions the distribution of leaflets on safe health practices and the importance of breastfeeding in emergencies. In situations like the tsunami, breastfeeding may be the only safe method of feeding. Our hearts go out to everyone affected by the tsunamis in Asia, those who lost family, friends, homes and communities, and to all the people now working so hard to rebuild.

Hope everyone had as much fun as we did for Christmas at Blue Sky's Go Baby Go! party

Blue Sky and Y.G. English held a joint Halloween party in the local gymnasium. Over 165 kids and their mums, as well as several babes in arms came along. It was HUGE!!
